My Mom welcomed everyone into our home. Roughneck friends, questionable paramours, and persons of interest were never turned away. And there were always snacks.
A Salad of Fermented Potato, Roasted Carrot, Baby Lettuce, Scallion, Pickled Mustard Grain, and Country Mayo
Her skill with potato salad was transcendent. She was conscripted to provide this dish for each and every family gathering for as long as I can remember.
Baked Sourdough French Toast, Poached Pear, Cardamom, Espresso, Whipped Creme Fraiche
We collaborated on an elaborate stuffed French toast for a family brunch. It was so popular that she meticulously replicated it any time it was requested.
Whiskey Barrel Vanilla Ice Cream, Lavender Shortbread, Puffed Sesame (this one will have some edible flowers on it, too)
Eating became difficult for Mom, after a time, but she could always enjoy ice cream. We had our share of ice cream parties.
